Benjamin J. Glardon
Glardon Auction Service
Founder & President
“As a young boy, my favorite past-time was attending auctions with my father. Things were quite different in the 20’s and 30’s. The pictures I have in my mind from these auctions (horses, buggies, farmsteads, windmills, lunches provided by sellers, etc.), are treasured possessions. It was during those years that I started holding my own “imaginary” auctions in my dad’s barn. I would sell everything in the barn to the cats who were sitting in the hay loft, and their blinks were bids. Gradually, I came to realize that my biggest dream was to become an auctioneer. During my teenage years, I actually prayed that I would become an auctioneer and that I would have a wife named “Rosie” some day. Both those prayers were answered: I became an auctioneer in the 1940’s, and I do indeed have a beautiful wife named “Rosie,” who is a lovely lady in every sense of the word and who has been a big part of the success of our business. Our whole auction team desires to provide a service to people and to be helpful, thoughtful, courteous, honest, and caring at all times to sellers and buyers alike. We have been truly blessed with overwhelming support and great friendships. As we look back over the years of our service, it is very evident to us that establishing good relationships with people ranks at the top of finding happiness in life itself.”
Ben passed away January 28, 2003 at age 81. Our deepest condolences to the Glardon Family. Ben was a long time member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Michigan State Auctioneers Association.
