Help Support the MAA by Donating to the Benefit Auction!

Greetings members,

I am excited to see all of you at the annual convention in Mt. Pleasant. Again, I have the duty to manage the MAA Benefit Auction. We were very fortunate last year to exceed our expectations; we have YOU to Thank! So, let’s put another great effort into this next auction. Can we count on you?

Yes, we have items from bid calling contestants. But, we need items from those not competing too for the Benefit Auction. First timers, this is a great way to get noticed by future employers. Show your skills, impress us all and you might get called to help. Seasoned auctioneers, maybe there is a new person on staff that would like to sell, have a little fun.

What makes a great item? We all love personal experiences. Hunts, fishing trips, boating and camping opportunities, race tickets, and concert or ball game tickets all give lasting memories. Homemade and handmade goods, food items, wood/metal projects, are always a hit. Antique/Vintage items, old auction memorabilia seem to generate interest. New items still in the packaging/box like tools and toys are appreciated.

With the rise in pallet sales and store returns it is easy to get items that maybe you do not want or need. If you are giving from these, great! But, please, inspect the items to make sure all the parts are included. After all, your reputation depends on it.

I would like to have pictures of any items you may bring sent (text my cell) to me so I may get the word out. Thank you.

Local Advertising Certificate Donations are a WIN – WIN!

We are asking all members to contact their local newspapers that they regularly use to donate advertising certificates. This is win-win for the Auctioneer donor and the MAA. You will be buying these ad spaces anyway, might as well buy the donated ad at the Benefit Auction and have the money go to the association. You can bring hundreds of dollars to the association with a simple phone call or email and it won’t cost you a thing!

I am writing to you today asking you for your help with our Benefit Auction at the Michigan Auctioneers Association Annual Conference this January in Mt. Pleasant, MI. A Gift Certificate towards advertising in your great paper would be much appreciated. All donations will be sold at Live Auction to our membership of professional marketers at our conference. If this is possible, please email your certificate or an email stating your donation soon as possible.
