Bill Sheridan of Mason, Michigan, has spent more than fifty years advancing the auction profession. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1972, he launched his career as a livestock auctioneer, helping sellers achieve true market value through competitive bidding. He went on to build several successful auction-focused businesses, including Sheridan Auction Service, Owosso Livestock Sales Company, Howell Livestock Sales Company, The Brokerage Land Company, and Sheridan Realty and Auction Company. Bill has managed livestock, farm machinery, real estate, and specialty auctions nationwide, as well as major oil and gas lease auctions for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

Bill has provided longstanding service to Michigan agriculture and auctioneering—supporting the Michigan Livestock Expo Auction, the Michigan Livestock Industry Fund, and the Michigan Cattlemen’s Association.

A decorated professional, Bill won the Michigan Bid Calling Championship in 1991, served as President of the Michigan Auctioneers Association in 1997, and was inducted into both the MAA Hall of Fame in 2003. He also won the International Auctioneer Championship in 2002 and was inducted into the National Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 2014. In 2023, he was inducted into the MSU Block & Bridle Hall of Fame—where he remains the only auctioneer honored.
