I\u2019ve been trying at this for five or six years.\u201d Then he paused and said, \u201cI can\u2019t believe it yet.\u201d\u00a0 He added, \u201cThank you to my uncle John McConnell, my dad, Matt Johnson, and Scott Sykora, who have all been my backbone during this journey and great mentors.\u201d\u00a0 Later, he thanked his wife, Breanna for her \u201clove and unconditional support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For winning the title, Johnson received a championship buckle, trophy, and entry into the International Auctioneer Championship in July 2025 in Schaumburg, Illinois.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7963\" src=\"https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Colt-Selling-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Colt-Selling-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Colt-Selling-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Colt-Selling-1-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Colt-Selling-1-730x486.jpg 730w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Colt-Selling-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Professional auctioneering is in Johnson\u2019s DNA, as his late uncle, Darell Dunkle, became a well-respected auctioneer from 1965-2022. \u00a0When Johnson was a little boy, he vividly remembers attending the Clare County Livestock Auction with his father, Matt Johnson.\u00a0\u00a0 As fate would have it, now Colt Johnson is an auctioneer for the Clare County Livestock Auction and sells every Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 Clare High School graduate attended the World-Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa at the tender age of 15.\u00a0 Immediately upon graduating from auction school, he began working with Sykora Auction Service and is celebrating his 11th work anniversary with the prominent auction firm.\u00a0\u00a0 Johnson also works at the Clare County Livestock, which he says, \u201cit is the highlight of my week\u201d.\u00a0 He enjoys all auctions, but his favorite types of auctions are farm equipment and cattle auctions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-7961\" src=\"https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/2025-Winners-MAC-MRC-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/2025-Winners-MAC-MRC-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/2025-Winners-MAC-MRC-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/2025-Winners-MAC-MRC-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/2025-Winners-MAC-MRC-730x486.jpg 730w, https:\/\/msaa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/2025-Winners-MAC-MRC.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1951, the Michigan Auctioneers Association is dedicated to the enhancement of Michigan\u2019s Auction Industry through education, promotion, advocacy and networking.
